You will lead external and internal communications, shape our corporate narrative, and ensure our messages resonate across audiences — from employees and healthcare professionals to patients, media, regulators and industry partners.

A core element of this role will be leading patient activation initiatives by crafting clear, engaging communications and collaborating closely with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs).

Your work will ensure patients are informed, empowered, and heard, helping to co‑develop resources and campaigns that truly resonate with their needs.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies aligned with business priorities.
  • Leading corporate messaging, media relations, press releases, announcements and stakeholder updates.
  • Driving compliant digital, social media and website communications across UK/IE channels.
  • Partnering across Medical, Regulatory, Legal, HR, Commercial, Market Access and leadership teams.
  • Monitoring stakeholder sentiment, industry trends and media coverage to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support executive communications, managing agency partnerships
  • Defining success metrics for campaigns and contributing to issues and crisis management.
  • A key part of the role will be maintaining LEO’s patient focus through co‑creation of patient case studies and close collaboration with marketing and medical colleagues.
  • Your Qualifications
  • Degree-level education, preferably in science, communications, marketing or equivalent by experience.
  • Experience in corporate and internal communications within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • The ability to translate complex scientific and business information into compelling, compliant communications.
  • Proven project management experience across digital and non-digital communications.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams and/or agencies to deliver successful campaigns.
  • Proven experience in healthcare communications, with an emphasis on patient engagement and patient activation.

Demonstrated success in building and maintaining partnerships with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) is also a needed.

  • Deep understanding of ABPI requirements, social media compliance and content management systems.
  • Experience using AI as an enabler, working with web metrics and digital analytics, and planning programmes across owned, earned and paid channels will be highly valuable.

You will thrive at LEO if you are strategic, proactive and calm under pressure, with excellent influencing skills and the ability to deliver with precision in a fast‑moving environment.

Your New Team

You will join a collaborative and high‑impact organisation with deep connections across Market Access and Communications, Brand Teams, Omnichannel Capabilities, Commercial Excellence, the UK Leadership Team and Global Communications colleagues.

Externally, you will work closely with agencies, media, patients, patient groups and key opinion leaders.
