Leo Group is one of the UK’s leading specialists in animal by-products and renewable energy. We play a critical role in the food and agricultural industries collecting and processing material – which is converted into meals and oils for use in pet food, cosmetics, chemicals, and renewable fuel. As we continue to grow and develop our operations, we are looking for Shunter drivers to join our Penrith site. This is a great opportunity for HGV drivers wanting to retire or for someone wanting to train to become an HGV driver and gain your licence but need some experience first. Weekend day or night shifts are also available.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completion of checks (visual, etc.) on incoming raw materials to ensure adherence to quality standards; take action on any substandard material
- Completion of temperature checks using laser probe
- Completion of sampling; routine adhoc
- Unload trailers of incoming product
- Completion of checks on condition of trailers, internally following cleaning and external physical condition
- Position and park empty trailers in appropriate locations to ensure efficient loading of finished product
- Escalate any issues to the appropriate manager in a timely manner e.g. defects/damage
- Completion of documentation, regular and adhoc
- Completion of daily plant checks e.g. wagon
- Any additional activities as required by the management team
- Responsible for health and safety of the work environment
Qualification Experience:
- Good level of English language
- Good communication skills
- Desirable Class 2 or 1 licence
- Previous experience of on-site shunting
