Lenovo’s Solutions and Services Group (SSG) is seeking an experienced Data Center System Administrator to support high‑performance data center environments across customer sites in Scotland. This hybrid role combines on‑site and remote support and focuses on advanced power, cooling, and HPC infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on system administrator with strong customer engagement skills and the ability to operate independently in mission‑critical environments.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and maintain physical data center infrastructure to ensure reliability, availability, and security.
- Maintain and troubleshoot advanced liquid‑based cooling systems, including manifolds, heat exchangers, pumps, and piping.
- Monitor power, cooling, environmental parameters, and network connectivity using dedicated monitoring systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including inspections, testing, and calibration.
- Provide on‑site and remote technical support, troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, and firmware issues.
- Administer operating systems and clusters, including upgrades, patching, and rolling firmware deployments.
- Act as the customers Single Point of Contact (SPOC), managing incidents, communication, and progress reporting.
- Produce operational documentation, monthly service reports and participate in customer service reviews.
- Professional experience in data center infrastructure, industrial cooling systems, or related technical environments.
- Hands‑on experience with system administration, including OS installation, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, system software, and infrastructure components in production environments.
- Familiarity with liquid cooling technologies such as chilled water systems, DLC, or equivalent solutions.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems (e.g. SUSE, RHEL, CentOS).
- Ability to read and work with technical documentation and infrastructure drawings.
- Strong customer‑facing skills with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly and professionally.
- Fluent English language skills (spoken and written); willingness to travel and work in data center environments.
