Lenovo High Performance Computing (HPC) team is looking for a seasoned Principal Consultant for Power and Cooling to join its Global HPC Professional Services team. This position represents a rewarding opportunity to use your experience and skills in a dynamic, complex organization and to deliver across our major customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Decipher complex RFP requirements related to facility power and cooling infrastructure and help IT architects design an IT solution that fits within those limitations.
- Architect complex power and cooling solutions for air and water-cooled IT solutions.
- Work with key stakeholders (customers or internal) requesting infrastructure enhancements to develop a clear understanding of requirements and success criteria.
- Collaborate with sales and critical engineering subject matter experts to determine the solution scope and projected costs.
- Capture the solution description and review with key stakeholders.
- Continue partnerships with internal or external customers to ensure the project goals and requirements are met.
- Drive the build vs. buy decisions as needed, and identify key technologies needed to deliver new products with each release.
- Participate actively with Development and external organizations like ASHRAE while staying current with technologies and techniques that will move our business forward.
- Be actively involved in the physical installation of complex IT systems that are air or water-cooled.
- Provide engineering guidance over a wide range of disciplines (power/electrical, mechanical, thermal, plumbing, controls).
- Effectively project manage vendors contracted to provide separate pieces of the solution.
This is a remote role that requires 50% travel.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience working in technology disciplines such as power/electrical or mechanical/thermal engineering in data center environments.
- Understanding of data center and IT solution power delivery architectures.
- Strong customer interaction skills and ability to make technical decisions.
- Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders and ability to drive issues to closure.
- Experience in providing effective leadership in engagements as a technical consultant in the power and cooling subject matter area.
