We are seeking a dedicated and experienced cook to join our team. 40hrs per week on a set 4 week rolling rota. The ideal candidate will have a good background in food service, culinary arts, and dietary support, with a focus on providing high-quality meal preparation and service in a residential care home setting. Knowledge of modified/textured diets would be an advantage but not essential as all training will be given. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a team committed to excellence in food safety, menu planning, and customer satisfaction.

Duties

  • Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines
  • Assist with menu planning to meet nutritional and resident preferences
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures are followed to maintain food safety standards
  • Contribute to food preparation activities including cooking, plating, and garnishing dishes
  • Support catering events and special meal services as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas in compliance with health regulations
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies for the dietary department
  • Provide excellent food service by serving guests professionally and courteously
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely meal delivery

Requirements

  • Prior experience in dietary department or dietary aide roles preferred
  • Experience with menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques
  • Strong knowledge of food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures
  • Skilled in kitchen tasks including knife skills, meal preparation, and food industry best practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • Food industry or culinary experience is highly desirable for this role
