Your New Role

As the Managing Associate Employment Solicitor, you will handle a mix of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, and deal with a wide range of clients. You will provide high-quality employment law advice and representation to employer clients, delivering practical, commercially focused solutions while contributing to the continued development of the firm's Employment Law practice in Northern Ireland.

You will provide technical legal expertise: you will continually seek to build on your current knowledge and proactively look to improve your advising skills.

Delivering excellent service: you will analyse legal information to solve problems and formulate arguments or strategy relevant to your clients' needs. You'll also use your initiative to proactively manage work and provide regular and appropriate updates to your stakeholders.

Building relationships: you will proactively develop positive working relationships with colleagues, ensuring that you work collaboratively and that you treat all colleagues with respect and professionalism.

Developing the business: you will have an awareness of the firm's goals and clients and have an appropriate level of involvement in building and maintaining relationships with key clients and prospects.

Matters will inlcude; Unfair dismissal and wrongful dismissal, Discrimination (sex, race, disability, age, religion/belief, sexual orientation), Redundancy and restructuring, TUPE, Disciplinary and grievance procedures, Employment contracts, policies, and handbooks, Settlement agreements and terminations, Managing employment tribunal claims from inception to hearing, including advocacy where appropriate, Drafting pleadings, witness statements, contracts, and settlement documentation, Providing clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused advice tailored to client needs.

What You Need To Succeed

As the Managing Associate Employment Solicitor, you will be a qualified solicitor in Northern Ireland, England and Wales or the Republic of Ireland.

  • You will be 8 years' PQE + and gained the benefit of training and development in a well-respected employment team.
  • Deep technical knowledge of most of the employment areas listed above.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with taking responsibility for work output, working autonomously and dealing directly with clients.
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers is helpful.
  • An ambitious, proactive, curious, commercial, responsive attitude.
  • Examples of marketing and business development initiatives they have been involved with
  • Experience of acting for employer clients on both general advisory and employment litigation work is preferred.
  • A team player who is keen to support others to learn and who is keen to learn and develop their own skills.

You must have comprehensive employment law knowledge, a strong analytical ability, and a clear communication style (both spoken and written). A commercial approach to client service is essential, and you must enjoy doing business development and, above all, must be a team player.
