My valued client is seeking fabricator/welders for their prestigious mining project in North Yorkshire. Roles are both Surface and Underground.
The duties and responsibilities of a Welder will include but not be limited to:
- Co-operate with all other work streams and operational team members to co-ordinate work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced correctly.
- Provide written reports, each shift, to line management detailing all work carried out with test results and follow up recommendations, recording any tests, inspections and defects.
- Ensure compliance with codes and rules, company instructions, RAMS and working instructions with regards to health and safety.
- Work to manufacturer’s recommendations on all welding operations.
- Carry out examinations required under the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Scheme for the mine to ensure compliance with legislation.
- Immediately rectify or stop any operation or work activity that does not comply with or is not being operated in accordance with the applicable safe operating procedure.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Welding (Plate) or Level 3 Diploma in Fabricating Engineering (Plating).
- Coded Welding papers.
- PEO Level 2 – Welding, Milling, Lathes, Thermal cutting, Basic electrical principles.
- Experience of working in a mining, tunneling or heavy industry environment.
- Significant experience in a welder’s role in an operational environment.
- Relevant hazardous area experience is desirable.
- Broad understanding of the 2014 Mining Regulations and how they impact your role.
- Training to establish knowledge of basic mechanical principles.
- Evidence of continuing competence development as a Welder.
- Evidence of Safe Isolation of mechanical systems within the scope of your appointment and any applied restriction.
- Effective communication skills are essential.
- The ability to follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures is essential.
- Ability to pass a safety critical medical and drugs and alcohol screening.
Role is on a 9 on 6 off basis and includes days, afters and nights rotations. More information will be discussed. Role is offered on a permanent basis with competitive salary, company bonus scheme, pension, 4 x death in service benefits and Bupa cover (after 3 months). Candidates must have valid right to work in the UK with no restrictions so either British/Irish Passport or valid Share Code with Leave to remain - Applications without this will be auto rejected.
