We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our growing finance function. This is an exciting opportunity for a recently qualified chartered accountant who has spent time in an operational finance role and is now ready to take on greater ownership and responsibility in a fast-moving fintech environment.
You will work closely with senior leadership, supporting financial reporting, controls, and day-to-day finance operations — with real scope to grow as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and financial statements, supporting the annual audit process with external auditors.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in building financial models, budgets, and forecasts to support business planning.
- Cash Flow Management: Support oversight of cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability.
- Controls & Compliance: Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations.
- Process Improvement: Help identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the wider team to support business operations, providing clear and timely financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- A minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in an operational finance role, ideally at a high-growth startup or fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and financial reporting.
- Solid analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently to non-finance colleagues.
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset — comfortable working in a small team where you'll need to roll up your sleeves.
- Exposure to a lending or fintech business.
- Experience with financial modelling or capital markets.
