At Lenkie, we’re passionate about helping small businesses turn their big ambitions into reality. Through our innovative lending products and powerful cash flow management platform, we empower SMEs to succeed. We have supported hundreds of UK businesses with millions in funding. We are a high-performing, collaborative team headquartered in London with a remote-first culture. Backed by world-class investors, we recently closed a £4M equity and £45M debt Series A investment round. We are now entering a pivotal scaling phase and are looking for a sharp, execution-focused Credit Analyst to join our mission.
About the job
We are looking for a driven Credit Analyst / Underwriter who has cut their teeth at one of the UK’s SME fintech lenders. You have 2–4 years of experience and understand what a high-output, technology-driven underwriting process looks like at scale. At Lenkie, you won't just be a cog in a machine. While your primary focus will be the efficient processing and underwriting of loan applications, you will also be an early hire with "builder" DNA. You’ll help us refine our workflows, optimize our decisioning engines and scorecards.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Processing & Underwriting: Own the end-to-end credit evaluation process for SME applicants. Perform deep-dive financial analysis, assess creditworthiness, and deliver fast, accurate lending decisions.
- Workflow Optimization: Use your experience to identify bottlenecks in our current process. Proactively suggest and implement improvements to increase speed-to-decision without compromising risk.
- Early-Stage Building: As a core member of a lean team, you will help "write the playbook" for our credit operations, contributing to the evolution of our internal tools and risk frameworks.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Actively monitor the health of our existing SME exposures, identifying early warning signs and contributing to portfolio reporting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work daily with Sales and Product/Tech teams to ensure a seamless customer journey from application to drawdown.
- Data-Driven Feedback: Provide feedback to our data and engineering teams to help automate manual checks and enhance our proprietary risk models.
Qualifications / Required Skills
- Experience: 2–4 years of direct SME underwriting experience.
- Fintech Background: You have worked at a UK SME fintech lender and understand modern, data-driven credit assessment.
- Processing Power: You are comfortable handling a high volume of applications and making sound judgement calls in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-Starter Mentality: You thrive in an environment where not everything is defined yet. You see a problem and build a solution rather than waiting for a manual.
- Analytical Rigor: Strong ability to analyze P&L statements, balance sheets.
