We are seeking a proactive, commercially minded and detail‑oriented Head of Finance to build and lead our financial operations and strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, experience in financial planning and reporting, and a passion for supporting small businesses. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role managing the financial reporting of our lending book, managing external audits, overseeing the company’s financial health, and providing strategic insights to drive business growth. Knowledge and experience within the finance function at a lending business and an accounting qualification is essential for the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Finance & Accounting Infrastructure: Design and implement the foundational systems, processes, and policies for Lenkie’s finance & accounting function.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and lead the annual audit process with external auditors, to ensure accuracy and compliance with UK regulations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop financial models, budgets, and forecasts to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning to ensure financial stability.
  • Financial Strategy: Provide insights and recommendations on financial strategies, cost optimization, and investment opportunities.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist in investor reporting, financial due diligence, and fundraising efforts.
  • Process & Systems Improvement: Implement and optimize financial processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with leadership and other departments to align financial strategies with business goals.
  • Capital Markets: Support leadership on fundraising initiatives and be familiar with capital markets concepts, especially around raising debt facilities.
Qualifications / Required Skills
  • Extremely strong understanding of lending financial concepts and advanced modelling skills.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years within an existing finance function of a lending business.
  • Additional experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity or a high‑performance startup environment is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting, in particular in relation to lending businesses.
  • Experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a small team and taking ownership of financial operations.
  • Very strong commercial acumen.
