What we are recruiting for:
The primary role of the Insurance and Risk Manager is responsibility for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks to Bovis, whilst managing all aspects of the corporate insurance programme.
- Providing and overall accountability as the risk and insurance representative to the construction Executive Leadership Team.
- Nurturing a risk aware culture throughout the company’s operations and leading the implementation of risk and insurance initiatives across the business units (BU’s).
- Engaging strategically with business leadership across the company.
- Ensuring insurable risks are transferred to the insurance market in a cost-efficient manner and leading and directing the insurance management (risk identification, policy management and claims management) across the business.
- Working under the direction of the Executive Director, Commercial and Assurance to ensure risk and insurance policies, procedures, strategies and programs for the business are effectively implemented and managed.
Risk
- Actively partner with the business to provide pro-active risk management (strategic and tactical), which includes attending business / project reviews, providing input and assessments of risk, and running / facilitating risk workshops to support the regional strategy, operational performance and execution against business plan.
- Be the ultimate point of contact for the “Risk Toolkit” (techniques, templates and IT tools and software) and ensure they are effectively used.
- Ensure consolidation of risk and opportunity reporting and data analysis and ensure accurate and timely reporting for the regional business units.
- Regularly engage with the BU Leadership Teams to provide updates, feedback and advice regarding risk performance as required.
- Develop, review and monitor the risk management strategy, policies, reporting, practices and standards to drive implementation, recommending strategies and promoting enhancement.
- Work closely with the business to develop and oversee the effective implementation of the Risk Management Strategy and Plan.
- Direct activities to ensure the business units implement a standardised risk management process, including a common way to identify, evaluate and manage risk in accordance with the risk management framework.
- Engage with ISO audit teams to consolidate risk management data.
- Advance the continued implementation, engagement and training on business continuity and crisis management, including the preparation (with the businesses) of plans, training and simulation exercises.
- Formulate and conduct Risk training as appropriate to the business and stakeholders.
- Drive innovation in risk management and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
- Support regional risk and insurance team members in the execution of their roles
Insurance
- Maintain strategic relationships with key insurance partners in the region and ensure the broking services are delivered in line with business unit expectations.
- Develop and execute individual insurance strategies for developments and key risks.
- Manage all insurance programs in the business and work closely with the appointed brokers.
- Collate data in a timely and accurate manner for insurance placements and annual renewal.
- Develop and manage the process for day-to-day insurance queries and ensure appropriate support is provided by the external broker.
- Overall accountability for Insurance strategies and initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate resources are allocated to administer and manage claims, including management of data management systems.
- Overall responsibility for timely resolution of claim matters.
- Prepare and distribute insurance reporting, including data analysis to key stakeholders (internal and external).
- Engage with the business to formulate and conduct training as appropriate to stakeholders.
- To Evaluate, procure and manage the Bovis Insurance Programme whilst working with our Broking Partner and Insurers to negotiate renewals and terms for new project policies and other annual insurance policy considerations.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with all insurance-related regulatory requirements.
- Prepare risk management and insurance reports for the Construction Executive Leadership Team
- Stay updated on changes in Insurance Laws and Regulations.
Training & Communication
- Promote a risk-aware culture through internal communications and training programs.
- Collaborate with internal departments to integrate risk management strategies into operational processes.
Experience & background:
- Degree or tertiary qualification in Economics, finance, engineering, law or equivalent (desirable)
- Industry recognised specialist qualifications
- Recognised training scheme
- Highly experienced in risk management or associated fields
- Experience as a Senior Lead at focusing on risk management, ideally on construction and engineering projects.
