The BusinessLendlease is one of the largest owners, operators and developers of retirement living communities in Australia, with a current portfolio of 75+ villages and over 17,000 residents calling our villages home.

We are seeking a Risk and Insurance Manager to join the Retirement Living team, to lead the risk and insurance activities in the business. The role will ensure risk policies, procedures, strategies and programs for the Retirement Living business are effectively implemented, reviewed and managed. The role can be in either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne on a full-time, permanent basis.

Reporting through to the Head of Operational Excellence, your key accountabilities in this role will include:

  • Liaise with Insurance Broker Partner to manage day to day insurance issues and queries, and in placement strategy and program renewal.
  • Monitor and assess the business unit risk profile for ongoing operations and assessment of new investment decisions.
  • Develop and execute individual insurance strategies for developments and key risks.
  • Manage outsourced insurance business partner for agreed programs and services (including outsourced claims management provider).
  • Administration and management of claims, including collating data and managing data systems.
  • Conduct regular periodic risk reviews and maintain risk registers across the business and escalate emerging risks or issues in line with agreed business processes.
  • Responsibility for maintenance of resilience programs (crisis management and business continuity) including training and simulation exercises.
  • Manage assurance programs to ensure a sound control environment is maintained in collaboration with legal/compliance teams (including regulatory requirements).
  • Engage with the business and collaborate with the legal/compliance teams to identify key contractual and operational risks and advise on appropriate risk management treatment.

About you:

  • Minimum 5 years in insurance industry (in-house, broker or insurer).
  • Degree or tertiary qualification in finance, engineering, law or equivalent – Desirable.
  • Be recognised for the consistent demonstration of as trusted advisor in all contact points with the business inspiring a proactive, collaborative and learning culture within the business.
  • Promote a positive team environment and a collaborative risk management approach to problem-solving.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with key external and internal stakeholders.
