We are currently recruiting for a Lead Planning Manager to have portfolio responsibility for our defence projects based out to the Birmingham office but with travel as and when required. As a Bovis Lead Planning Manager, you will lead and manage the planning and monitoring of large/complex projects to which you are assigned throughout all project stages. You will work with our Project Operations Team to develop the most efficient project methodology and execute the timely delivery of bids and projects, drawing on your experiences. Provide input into the further enhancement of our systems and processes and support or oversee junior planning staff.
Roles & responsibilities:
- The Lead Planning Manager leads and manages the planning and monitoring of large/complex projects throughout all stages, often providing experienced-based solutions for project delivery.
- A key function is to act as 'the project conscience,' preparing reports and documents to inform the Senior Leadership Team and Business Unit on programme matters and critical issues.
- They provide input into enhancing planning systems and processes and typically support or oversee junior planning staff.
- This level often coordinates the 4D BIM model with the BIM Coordinator and assists in chairing weekly planning meetings.
- Key responsibilities include monitoring and reporting regional progress, identifying critical issues, recommending potential corrective measures, and influencing key stakeholders.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Behaviours
Skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt approach dependent on the situation and audience.
- Produce reports and diagrams to a high standard to convey proposed sequences and methodologies.
- Strong use of Excel (use of formulae, pivot tables etc).
- Risk Management.
Knowledge
- Expert/comprehensive understanding of construction methodology, building technology, pre-construction processes and procurement methods.
- Strong understanding of the primary forms of construction contracts and the key commercial terms.
- Working knowledge of P6.
- Strong knowledge of CPA planning techniques and project controls.
Experience
- Experience providing strategic leadership to a diverse planning team across multiple projects.
- Experience in project portfolio management.
- Experience in NEC forms of contract.
