What we are recruiting for:
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Commercial Manager (Assistant Quantity Surveyor) to join our construction business on a major project located in Manchester city centre.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Produce tender lists, invitations to tender and manage tender queries for specified packages £100k – £2m.
- Perform tender analyses to ensure value for money is achieved, that the works have been. procured at the best market rates, and that the scope and unpriced elements are fully understood.
- Prepare subcontract documentation and negotiate contract terms to limit risk to the company.
- Prepare cost reports to internal and external clients and create a substantive cost to complete position.
- Observe the change control procedure and manage costs accordingly.
- Agree and issue instructions / variations to subcontractors.
- Perform interim valuations to ensure subcontract payments are made in a timely manner and in accordance with legislation and the subcontract conditions.
- Forecast, monitor, and manage a positive cash flow.
- Prepare and monitor project/package risk registers.
Experience & background:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or other construction related degree.
- Similar experience either with a national contractor or on major projects.
- JCT Contract and subcontract experience.
- Advanced word-processing, Excel spreadsheet packages and fully conversant with cost management software / document management software.
- Demonstrable understanding of building programmes, technology and construction methods.
