LendInvest is the UK's leading FinTech platform for property finance. Over the past 18 years, we have grown from just our two founders to a team of over 200 working to make property finance simple for everyone. A workplace culture built around trying new things, getting things done, and having fun while we do it has helped us lend more than 10 billion of mortgages, put thousands of new or improved homes into the UK housing market, and successfully launch on the London Stock Exchange. We have big plans to continue growing the business, our products, our technology, and our people. We operate a hybrid working policy across our business to ensure we offer flexibility that is balanced with in-person collaboration. Our teams spend three days per week in the office and two days working remotely.
About your work
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our Engineering team and help build, maintain and improve the applications and services that support our business and customers. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who has already gained some commercial software development experience and wants to continue developing across both frontend and backend technologies. We are looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals, a willingness to learn, and an interest in understanding how software works across the full application lifecycle.
You will work as part of a cross-functional engineering team alongside software engineers, product, QA, data and platform specialists. You will contribute to new functionality, improve existing systems and help us continually improve the way we design, build, test and operate software.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain features across our web applications and supporting services.
- Work across backend and frontend code, with opportunities to develop your skills in both areas.
- Contribute to applications built using technologies such as PHP, Symfony, JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
- Work with Product and other team members to understand requirements and help turn business problems into practical technical solutions.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Work with applications deployed within AWS and Kubernetes-based environments, developing your knowledge of cloud infrastructure and production operations.
- Take responsibility for the quality of the software you deliver, from development through to production.
- Continue developing your technical skills with support from more experienced members of the team.
About you
- We are interested in engineers who enjoy solving problems and want to develop a broad understanding of software engineering.
- Commercial software development experience, or equivalent demonstrable experience building and maintaining software.
- Experience with at least one backend programming language. Experience with PHP would be particularly useful, although experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript using Node.js, or similar technologies is also relevant.
- Experience building modern web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript, gained commercially or through equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, Vue or Angular; experience with React would be particularly useful.
- An understanding of REST APIs and how frontend and backend applications interact.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with automated testing and an understanding of why testing is important.
- An understanding of fundamental software engineering concepts such as maintainability, separation of concerns and reusable code.
- Experience with our core technologies, particularly PHP/Symfony.
- Experience with Wordpress.
- Cloud or container technologies such as AWS, Docker or Kubernetes.
- Messaging or event-driven systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or AWS messaging services.
- Observability, monitoring and supporting applications in production.
- Agile, Kanban or other iterative software development practices.
- If you have a good foundation in software engineering and are keen to learn the areas you have not yet worked with, we would still encourage you to apply.

How to prepare for a job interview at LendInvest
✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills
For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.
✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks
Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If LendInvest uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.
✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions
While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
