About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to build the world's best technology to help people get credit and save money. We're building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s newest unicorns with a team of just over 700 people
  • Among the fastest-growing tech companies in the UK
  • Profitable since 2017
  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs
  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9 across 10,000s of reviews on Trustpilot)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days. We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of financial products are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.

Join us if you want to:

  • Take ownership across a broad remit. You are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1.
  • Work in small teams of exceptional people, who are relentlessly resourceful to solve problems and find smarter solutions than the status quo.
  • Build the best technology in-house, using new data sources, machine learning and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior React Native Engineer to join the Lenda team - our new brand in Mexico - building a new consumer credit card as part of our continued international growth. You’ll join a small, cross-functional team with a startup mindset, operating within one of Europe’s most successful and profitable fintechs. Having recently launched in closed beta, we’re iterating quickly and refining the product as we prepare for a full public launch and continued growth in Mexico.

Your primary focus will be our React Native mobile application, delivering high-quality features and evolving a clean, scalable frontend codebase. You’ll collaborate closely with backend engineers to agree API behaviours through clear, documented contracts, contribute across the broader frontend surface area where needed, and partner with product stakeholders to deliver well-defined, high-impact improvements.

Our ideal engineer is detail-oriented and resourceful, writing thoughtful, maintainable code and approaching problems with pragmatism. You’re as interested in understanding the “why” behind a feature as you are in delivering the “how”.

Tech stack:

  • Frontend: Typescript, React Native, Expo, NextJS, GraphQL, Jest, React Testing Library, Maestro
  • Backend: PHP 8 (Symfony), AWS, Postgres, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD
  • Tooling: Github, Jira & Confluence, Datadog & Sentry, Figma & Storybook

Essential skills you’ll need to have:

  • You have a solid understanding of recent versions of Typescript.
  • You have commercial experience with cross-platform mobile development using React Native, and modern web development with React / NextJS.
  • You have a good understanding of the different needs of users across a variety of platforms and devices.
  • You are experienced with current automated testing approaches, and take a pragmatic approach to implementing and improving the various phases of the testing pyramid.
  • You actively leverage AI development tooling to accelerate delivery, using copilots and autonomous agents with clear direction and strong engineering judgement to ship high-quality features faster.
  • You have a product mindset and are comfortable working with product owners to break down business requirements into deliverable tasks and estimate the complexity of their implementation.
  • B2 (Intermediate) level written and spoken English. You’re able to clearly and confidently discuss technical concepts in an English-speaking team environment.

What would make you stand out:

  • You have written or spoken Spanish at a working proficiency, strengthening your ability to operate effectively in the Mexican market.
  • You’ve used GraphQL in a production environment.
  • You have experience of mobile performance best practices and debugging.
  • You’ve used staged rollouts and multivariate testing approaches to release new features and test hypotheses.
  • You understand the importance of catering to users with accessibility needs, and are familiar with the approaches and tooling required to ensure accessibility guidelines and best practices are adhered to.
  • You have experience of UI or UX design and you feel at ease discussing approaches with product designers.
  • You’ve built, or worked on, products that have scaled from zero users to tens or hundreds of thousands (or more), and can apply what you learnt in new contexts.

Interview process:

  • A quick video call with a member of our talent team to learn more about you.
  • A 30-minute video call with a hiring manager to discuss your experience and answer any initial technical questions you have about the role.
  • A 15-minute online cognitive assessment, and a short practical take-home React Native coding exercise for you to showcase your coding skills.
  • Final Onsite or Video interviews:
    • A technical session with your peers where you’ll discuss your solution to the exercise, talk through some problems and scenarios, and dig deeper into your technical experience.
    • An interview with an Engineering Manager to explore your motivations and goals, assess how you could play a part in your team’s success, and better understand how we could help you thrive in your role.

How to prepare for a job interview at Lendable

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Lendable uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
