Make a real difference in children’s lives. We are recruiting for a Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner to join a specialist residential service supporting vulnerable and traumatised children aged 4–16. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a therapeutic environment where consistency, relationships, and emotional support are at the heart of care.
About the Role
You will support children who have experienced trauma by providing:
- Consistent care, nurture, and emotional support
- A safe, structured, and predictable environment
- Positive relationships that build trust and confidence
- Support with emotional regulation and daily routines
- Team-based therapeutic care in a reflective environment
Day-to-Day Duties
- Supporting morning, school, mealtime, and bedtime routines
- Preparing meals and encouraging independence
- Supporting school transitions and community activities
- Engaging children in play, outings, and positive experiences
- Helping manage emotions and behaviours in a safe, consistent way
- Working closely with colleagues to maintain structure and stability
What We’re Looking For
- Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient individuals
- Consistent and supportive under pressure
- Passionate about improving children’s wellbeing
- Able to demonstrate maturity and responsibility
- Ideally 1+ year’s experience supporting children (preferred)
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
Training & Development
No Level 3 qualification? No problem. Full training and support will be provided to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare after a 6-month probation period.
