Role Summary

The Data Architect – SAP Data & Analytics is responsible for designing, governing, and delivering enterprise-scale data platforms and analytics architectures across SAP and cloud ecosystems. The role focuses on SAP BW modernization, SAP Datasphere, SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), impact assessment on Data landscape for ECC to S/4HANA migration, and integration with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric). This role acts as the technical authority ensuring scalable, secure, and future-ready data architectures aligned with business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Solution Design
    • Define enterprise-scale data architecture strategies spanning SAP and cloud data ecosystems.
    • Design and govern SAP Datasphere and BDC architectures, including data modeling, spaces design, semantic layer, and data integration.
    • Lead BW, BW/4HANA, and BW modernization programs, including ECC to S/4 data remediation and migration.
    • Architect extraction and ingestion strategies using ODP, CDS, SLT, BODS, and APIs.
    • Design cloud-native lakehouse and data platform architectures on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Data Integration & Engineering Design
    • Define end-to-end data pipelines from SAP and non-SAP sources into cloud platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Fabric.
    • Design medallion and lakehouse architectures using Parquet, Iceberg, Delta, and cloud-native services.
    • Establish CI/CD frameworks, automation, metadata-driven ingestion, and orchestration strategies.
  • Governance, Security & Quality
    • Define data governance frameworks, including lineage, cataloging, access control, and auditability.
    • Implement security-by-design architectures, including role-based access, encryption, and data masking.
    • Define data quality, reconciliation, and observability frameworks.
  • Program & Stakeholder Leadership
    • Act as technical authority across large-scale data transformation programs.
    • Partner with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, and delivery leaders to shape data strategy and roadmaps.
    • Mentor technical teams and establish architecture best practices.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 20+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture and analytics platforms.
  • Deep expertise in SAP BW, BW/4Hana, SAP Datasphere, and SAP BDC.
  • Strong experience with ECC to S/4HANA data migration, extractor remediation, and CDS-based extraction.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures: lakehouse, medallion, streaming, and real-time analytics.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automation, metadata-driven ingestion, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
