Our client, the UK’s leading supplier of high-quality timber doors and accessories, is seeking a full-time Door Expert / Sales Adviser to join its friendly and knowledgeable team at the Farnham showroom. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales professional who takes pride in understanding customers' needs and providing expert, tailored advice. Our client does more than simply employ salespeople; it develops genuine door experts. You will learn how to understand each customer's vision, recommend the right products and help bring their ideas to life. Comprehensive product training will be provided. The ideal candidate will bring strong customer-service skills, sales confidence and the drive and determination to build a rewarding long-term career.

The Basics:

  • Salary: £28,860 per annum (£14.80 per hour)
  • Permanent, full-time position - 37.5 hours per week
  • Working hours: 09:00-17:00, Monday-Saturday, working five days per week
  • Farnham showroom; the role may occasionally provide cover at other stores

The Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service, dealing with customers promptly, courteously and professionally throughout their journey from first contact to final delivery.
  • Process customer orders and queries confidently and accurately, resolving issues and enquiries to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Build comprehensive product knowledge, recommend suitable alternatives and provide expert advice tailored to each customer's needs.
  • Maximise sales opportunities through appropriate product matching, including ironmongery and other relevant add-ons, while considering availability and stock levels.
  • Ensure customer requirements, including glass and rebating, are processed efficiently and meet agreed delivery promises.
  • Check deliveries accurately and promptly, passing on all relevant paperwork quickly and maintaining precise records so colleagues can follow outstanding tasks.
  • Create effective, current showroom displays, ensuring products are correctly coded, priced, clean and well presented.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer service, processes, costs and margin.
  • Deputise effectively for the Branch Manager or Assistant Manager when required.
  • Maintain a customer-friendly working environment, support stocktakes, assist with training new recruits and follow company procedures, appearance standards and the clear-desk policy.
  • Report health and safety concerns to the line manager and undertake reasonable ad hoc duties to support the smooth running of the company.

The Skills & Requirements:

  • Previous experience providing excellent customer service in product-led or technical sales, ideally within a retail, showroom or face-to-face environment.
  • A confident, professional and friendly communication style, with the ability to listen carefully and understand customer needs.
  • A strong interest in learning detailed product knowledge and using it to give clear, practical advice.
  • Accurate, organised and reliable, with good attention to detail and the ability to keep promises and maintain clear records.
  • Commercial awareness and the confidence to identify appropriate upselling opportunities.
  • A collaborative and flexible approach, including willingness to support colleagues, train new starters and deputise when needed.
  • A valid UK driving licence, as occasional cover at other stores may be required.
