With a strong pipeline of secured work and ambitious growth plans targeting £75m turnover, they are looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with the appointment of an Estimator.
The Role
Working as part of a growing pre-construction team, you will play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive and commercially robust tenders for a wide range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Estimating Director, you will review tender documentation, undertake take-offs, obtain and assess subcontractor quotations, and contribute to the production of high-quality tender submissions. Projects range across highways, infrastructure, energy, ports, industrial developments, flood defence and public realm schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions from first principles
- Carry out quantity take-offs and cost planning exercises
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Lead supply chain enquiries and assess subcontractor quotations
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering options
- Prepare pricing information for tender reviews and adjudications
- Work closely with planning, design, commercial and operational teams
- Produce detailed handover information for successful projects
- Support the delivery of accurate, compliant and commercially competitive tenders
What We're Looking For
- Experience in an Estimator role within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction
- Strong understanding of tendering, measurement and pricing
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and bills of quantities
- Good commercial awareness
- Experience using estimating software (Causeway) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts would be advantageous
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
