ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK Durham £30,000 – £35,000 25 days holiday + bank holidays Flexible working hours, 9am -5pm equivalent I'm delighted to be exclusively partnering with an established North East construction company who are looking to welcome an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business with a genuinely lovely working environment, a down-to-earth team and plenty of opportunities to get involved across different departments. The role A key part of your responsibility will be managing weekly PAYE and weekly CIS subcontractor payroll, ensuring timesheets are processed accurately, discrepancies are resolved and payments are made on time. You will also support the Accounts Manager with monthly PAYE payroll when required. You'll be the go-to person for subcontractors when it comes to payment queries, so I'm looking for someone who understands the importance of building strong working relationships, communicating effectively and making sure people are looked after. Your responsibilities will include: * Weekly processing PAYE and CIS subcontractor timesheets through a digital application, investigating and resolving any discrepancies. * Managing subcontractor payment queries and ensuring payments are processed accurately and on time. * Processing accounts payable invoices in line with agreed payment terms and timescales. * Working with SAGE 200 and Eque2 software. * Processing expense claims * Supporting the Accounts Manager with HMRC submissions * Supporting procurement and month-end accounting activities as and when required. Who am I looking for? First and foremost, experience processing payroll is an absolute must. This is the one requirement I can't compromise on. Knowledge of CIS subcontractor payments would also be great! You'll ideally be a confident user of SAGE 200, with experience of Eque2 being a real advantage. But beyond your technical experience, I'm looking for the right personality. Someone who's proactive, driven and takes real ownership of their responsibilities. A natural relationship builder who genuinely enjoys helping people, thinks outside the box and doesn't need to be asked twice to get things done. You'll be working in an open-plan construction office, so you'll need to enjoy a bit of banter, have a good sense of humour and be confident enough to hold your own. This isn't a business where you'll be expected to sit quietly behind a desk processing invoices all day. They want someone who enjoys being part of the wider team, is happy to get stuck in and welcomes the opportunity to be cross-trained across other departments. What's on offer? Salary between £30,000 – £35,000 depending on experience. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Flexible working hours, typically 9am–5pm or similar. A friendly, supportive team with a genuinely great working atmosphere. Opportunities to develop your skills and gain exposure to other areas of the business. This is a lovely opportunity for someone who wants to feel valued, take ownership of their role and become an important part of a growing construction business. If you have the Payroll & CIS experience I'm looking for and think this sounds like your kind of workplace, I'd love to hear from you
