You’ll work at the heart of LemFi’s Remittance Platform, which processes tens of millions of cross-border transactions each month. Your work will span a diverse set of goals from expanding into new geographies to combating fraud and optimising the performance and success rates of money transfers. The impact is real: you’ll help improve the lives of immigrants around the world who rely on LemFi to send money home safely and efficiently.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Drive architectural and technical strategy in your product squad, making scalable, well-informed decisions and guiding them from concept to production.
  • Establish and uphold the benchmark for technical quality spanning design, implementation, testing, reliability, and scalability across the engineering organisation.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Product, Data and Growth to align technical direction with broader company priorities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers and technical leads, supporting their growth in both technical capability and leadership.
  • Amplify team effectiveness by bringing clarity to ambiguous challenges, removing blockers, and enabling sound decision making through strong technical insight and clear communication.
  • Shape and evolve company-wide engineering standards, continuously identifying ways to improve tooling, processes, and practices for long-term impact.
  • Take line management responsibility to conduct regular 1:1s and shape engineers growth paths validated by performance reviews.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong focus on scalable, production-ready systems.
  • Deep expertise in backend technologies, including hands-on experience with Go Lang or Java for building distributed services.
  • Proven track record of driving technical excellence in observability covering logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
  • Skilled in designing, building, and evolving RESTful APIs, with a focus on long-term maintainability and backward compatibility.
  • Practical application of Domain-Driven Design and modular architecture to manage complexity and improve codebase clarity.
  • Experience with asynchronous processing patterns such as coroutines, message queues, and event streaming with Kafka.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL), including schema evolution, query optimisation, and transaction handling.
  • Solid grasp of secure coding practices, with awareness of OWASP and other industry standards.
  • Hands-on experience using container technologies (e.g., Docker) throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Advocates for pragmatic, shift-left test automation practices to ensure reliability and speed.
  • Ability to translate product and business requirements into AWS-based architectures, balancing security, cost-efficiency, and simplicity.
  • Previous team leading experience as an Engineering Manager or Delivery Lead.
  • Leading with empathy, but delivering honest feedback without compromising growth.
  • Process oriented mindset. Track record of introducing and automating processes improving delivery and product KPIs.

Nice to Haves:

  • Previous experience in financial technology or banking domain.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
