Our Leisure Attendants (lifeguards) have an important role to play in the smooth operation of the leisure centre. As a Leisure Attendant, it would be your responsibility to ensure the safety of our customers whilst supervising the swimming pool and its surrounds as a pool lifeguard. You will also be expected to undertake a number of other tasks around the centre such as routine checks, cleaning and assisting with the preparation of events/activities, including the assembly and dismantling of equipment.
As you go about your work, you will regularly interact with customers and will do so in a warm and welcoming way. You will often be the first team member that customers report issues to, and therefore you will have a great deal of responsibility for representing LeisureSK in a professional and efficient manner; remaining calm in difficult situations, being proactive in dealing with issues yourself where possible or reporting immediately to management if not.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking general lifeguard duties to the standards defined in the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification - ensuring that the poolside is never left unattended for any reason whatsoever.
- Being aware of general pool conditions i.e. water clarity and odour and reporting any issues to the Duty Manager.
- Monitoring the number of swimmers in the pool at any one time and advising the Duty Manager if numbers exceed specified limits or additional lifeguards are required.
- Complying with the PSOP (Pool Safety Operating Procedure) of the centre at all times.
- Maintaining your NPLQ by attending the required number and frequency of training sessions.
- Providing outstanding customer care at all times, dealing with minor problems and reporting serious issues to the Duty Manager.
- Ensuring the health and safety of customers at all times.
- Understanding and being fully conversant with the Centre Emergencies Procedure for the building as detailed in the Health and Safety Manual.
- Checking the safety of equipment and reporting any damage or malfunction of equipment, plant or building fabric to the Duty Manager immediately after discovery.
- Assisting in the preparation and operation of events and activities, including the assembly and dismantling of equipment and minor repairs when required.
- Ensuring all cleaning duties are carried out as prescribed by the Duty Manager and maintaining storage areas in a clean and tidy condition.
- Handling and recording lost property in line with company procedures.
- Assisting in the opening and/or closing of the centre each day.
- Completing from time-to-time other tasks as requested by the management team.
