Welcoming top tier music, comedy, sport and corporate events to the heart of the city and proudly hosting over 200 events and 130,000 visitors each year, it is a vital stage for touring artists and audiences alike.
The Role As a Front of House Team Member, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service across York Barbican's diverse programme of concerts, comedy shows, theatre performances, sporting events, conferences, exhibitions and special events.
Acting as the face of the venue, you will help create memorable experiences for every guest, ensuring they receive a warm welcome and exceptional service from arrival through to departure.
Working across a variety of front-of-house areas, you will support event delivery, assist guests with enquiries, promote venue facilities and premium experiences, maintain a safe and welcoming environment, and help deliver the high standards expected at one of Yorkshire's leading live entertainment venues.

- The Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all events, creating positive first impressions, providing accurate information, assisting with enquiries and helping to create memorable guest experiences.
- Welcome and assist guests throughout their visit, including ticket scanning, wayfinding, seating guests, supporting information points and promoting premium experiences and event upgrades where appropriate.
- Ensure the safety, comfort and accessibility of all guests by responding to incidents, supporting emergency procedures when required, reporting venue issues and providing an inclusive experience for all visitors.
- Support the presentation and operation of the venue through litter picking, recycling initiatives, furniture movement, signage placement, barrier setup and general event preparation activities.
- Work collaboratively with venue teams, security partners and management to resolve guest concerns, deliver exceptional event experiences and support the successful operation of all public events.
What we're looking for

- A passion for customer service, with the ability to anticipate guest needs, respond to enquiries and resolve issues positively and professionally.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure, make informed decisions and manage multiple priorities during busy events.
- A proactive, flexible and hands-on approach, with a strong team ethic, willingness to support other departments and the ability to undertake manual handling duties when required.
- Experience in hospitality, retail, customer service or live events is desirable, alongside a commitment to creating exceptional guest experiences and delivering the highest standards of service.
