Salary: £28,500 per annum

The Marketing and Events manager will be responsible for the full spectrum of marketing, communication, and digital activities for Plantasia Tropical Zoo. This is a hands-on role requiring the planning, execution, and reporting of all initiatives across social media, digital advertising, email marketing, press relations, and print materials. The role also includes the management of external agency relationships, the booking system, and internal communications to ensure all marketing efforts align with the zoo's commercial and brand objectives.

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • A degree or professional qualification in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is desirable.
  • A minimum 12 months experience in a Marketing role is desirable.
  • Proficiency in the Welsh language (ability to speak/translate) is preferable.

Skills / Technical / Professional Competence

  • Digital Platforms: Expert working knowledge of key social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube) and scheduling tools (Meta Business Suite).
  • Creative Software: Competence in photo and video editing software for both short-form and long-form content (e.g., Capcut, Canva).
  • Website & Analytics: Knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), content management for website updates (Wordpress), and monitoring performance via GA4.
  • Booking & Email Systems: Practical experience using a booking system (e.g., Fareharbor) for event management and pricing, and an email marketing platform (e.g., Atreemo) for campaign deployment.
  • Advertising: Ability to write engaging copy, headlines, and descriptions for Meta Ad and Google Ads campaigns.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for press releases, social media, customer service responses, and internal team briefs.
  • Organisation: Strong organisational skills for content calendar planning, itinerary planning for shoots, and managing multiple external and internal liaisons.

Experience

  • Proven experience in managing and growing multiple social media channels, including content capture, editing, scheduling, reporting on insights, and community management.
  • Demonstrable experience in coordinating and liaising with external creative and media agencies for digital, print, and PR campaigns.
  • Experience in planning and executing marketing campaigns across digital, print, and OOH (Out-of-Home) media, ensuring allocation of spend within budget.
  • Experience in managing press relations, including writing and distributing press releases and acting as the contact for press queries.
  • Experience in event planning and outreach activities to generate brand awareness.
  • Experience in managing photography and videography shoots, including itinerary planning, sourcing models, managing consent forms, and organising a photo library.
  • Experience in responding to customer feedback across various platforms.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring university placement students is an advantage.

Additional Responsibilities

The successful candidate will also be responsible for some Duty Manager tasks. This position is a key position in the Company. Carrying out continuous customer and staff relation services, the position provides the post-holder with a genuinely rewarding experience in one of the most attractive and fast growing leisure management companies.

Primary objectives for the Duty Manager will be:

  • To ensure the highest possible standards of health and safety and customer care within the Centre.
  • To develop and promote an exciting, innovative leisure programme in order to increase the usage and profitability of the Centre.
  • To assume shift management responsibility for the Centre to maximise the total performance of the Centre and maintain the highest standards of customer care.

The Person

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and copy-editing skills.
  • Demonstrable understanding of tourism and destination marketing.
  • Confident IT user, including Google, and experience with digital platforms (e.g. web CMS, CRM).
  • Proficient in using a range of social media platforms (including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok) to support campaign delivery, audience engagement, and content performance tracking.
  • Ability to liaise professionally with a number of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, and prioritising workload.
  • Strong image and asset management awareness (permissions, copyright, file storage).
  • Will be able to build strong relationships with customers, clients and employees.
  • Will be able to communicate at different levels of the organisation, both listen and direct.
  • Will be able to meet the demands of the role by working additional hours when required.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an adaptable and professional approach.
  • Problem-solving attitude and ability to respond flexibly to challenges.
  • Ability to contribute creative ideas to campaigns and content.
