- Job functions
- Monitor all water activities, including swimming, boating, and waterfront events, ensuring camper and staff safety at all times.
- Maintain constant surveillance of camp participants in the water, using your training to recognize and respond to potential emergencies quickly and effectively.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the swimming area
- Assist in planning and leading water-based activities such as swimming lessons, water games, and other aquatic programs.
- Work closely with other lifeguards, counsellors, and camp staff to ensure a coordinated approach to camper safety and activity management.
- Adhere to all camp and regulatory safety standards, participating in regular drills and training sessions to stay prepared for any situation.
Experience/requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old by the start of camp.
- Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is highly desirable.
- Previous experience as a lifeguard.
- Energetic, compassionate, patient, and adaptable with a genuine passion for working with youth.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including the ability to perform rescues and carry equipment.
