Overview: This is a rare opportunity to work on a historic estate featuring Capability Brown-designed gardens, a deer park, woods, and 330 acres of formal and wild landscapes. The Assistant Grounds Manager will help lead the care, sustainability, and seasonal development of the estate’s extraordinary grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain formal gardens, nurseries, parklands, and grounds to a high standard.
  • Operate and maintain garden machinery and tractors.
  • Implement sustainable horticultural practices.
  • Conduct risk and COSHH assessments and uphold safety standards.
  • Manage contractors and team members in the absence of the Head Gardener.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in formal gardens or estates
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather
  • Skilled in horticulture and grounds maintenance
  • Competent with machinery and tools
  • PA1/PA6 and chainsaw certifications (desirable)
  • Valid driving licence (essential)
