  • A professional appearance
  • Confidence with computers, emails, software and digital comms

Why this role exists

This isn't a standard reception job. Our PHA role is designed to create a gold-standard client experience in a fast-paced clinical environment. You are the calm, capable, friendly link between the pet owner and the clinical team - helping clients feel informed, supported and genuinely cared for.

Who you are (on your best day - and your busy day)

You're someone who:

  • Stays calm, composed and kind when emotions are high
  • Is warm, confident and professional face-to-face
  • Has an excellent telephone manner
  • Enjoys problem-solving and finds satisfaction in getting things right
  • Likes improving how a service works - not just doing the same thing forever
  • Can move quickly between priorities without losing quality

You care deeply about the client experience, but you also understand that great care needs great systems behind it.

What a typical day looks like

Your day will be varied, lively and purposeful. You'll work across two key areas:

  • Front-of-clinic client care
    • Welcome clients and pets
    • Answer questions clearly and confidently
    • Register new clients
    • Support existing clients with everything they need
    • Bring a smart, positive, reassuring presence to the front of house
  • Telephony + digital client support
    • Handle calls and digital communications
    • Troubleshoot client queries
    • Liaise closely with the clinical team
    • Keep things organised, efficient and well-documented

This part of the role needs your structure, momentum and excellent communication. You'll also support:

  • Admin tasks
  • Team projects
  • Process development
  • Day-to-day clinic teamwork

Full training and ongoing support are provided on the job.

This role would suit

  • Someone from the veterinary sector who wants to build a career on the client-care side
  • Someone from a fast-paced customer environment (health, hospitality, retail, service) who wants something more meaningful and progressive
  • A people-person who also loves animals and enjoys building trust during difficult moments

What you get in return

You'll join a supportive, friendly team where your role genuinely matters.

Benefits include:

  • Pension scheme
  • 20% discount at The Vet Group, Pets at Home and the Groom Room
  • Access to wider discounts and cashback offers
  • CPD opportunities through the Vets4Pets Learning Academy for those who progress strongly through onboarding
  • Additional surgery-based benefits (shared on application)
