Sous Chef - The Marine Hotel JOIN US

With business levels continuing to grow, we're strengthening our kitchen team across multiple roles - creating new opportunities driven by increased demand and ongoing development at the Marine Hotel.

We are looking for a confident and capable Sous Chef to join our growing kitchen team at the Marine Hotel.

This is a key role within the kitchen, offering the opportunity to support the Head Chef in leading the team, driving standards, and delivering consistent quality.

You'll play an active role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, gaining valuable leadership experience while being part of a stable and supportive operation.

Located on the Paignton seafront, the Marine Hotel is a 53-bedroom coastal hotel offering a relaxed and welcoming environment for both leisure and group guests.

With its prime seaside location and steady year-round trade, the hotel has built a strong reputation for friendly service, comfortable stays, and consistently delivered guest experiences.

This role offers the chance to develop your leadership skills, influence the direction of the food offering, and be part of a growing operation where you can genuinely make an impact.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SOUS CHEF AT OUR HOTEL

What you'll be doing...

  • Cooking food in a timely manner using different methods and techniques
  • Ensuring that all food is of excellent quality.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
  • Ensuring appealing plate presentation.
  • Coaching and developing other team members
  • WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Awards - advantageous
  • Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award - advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar role - Chefs de Partie welcome!
  • Strong communicator with friendly and pleasant personality
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to engage with staff
