We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Inspection Engineer to inspect and assess amusement rides and associated systems, ensuring compliance with recognised safety standards and statutory requirements. This role is open to candidates from electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering backgrounds, with the opportunity to develop specialist expertise through a structured training programme.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree or HND (with experience) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent technical reporting and communication abilities
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and internationally
  • Full UK driving licence and a valid passport

Electrical Discipline

  • Inspect electrical systems in accordance with BS 7671 and BS EN standards
  • Assess control panels, PLC systems, safety circuits, and safety-related control systems
  • Verify earthing, bonding, protective devices, and fault protection measures
  • Review electrical schematics, technical drawings, and inspection records
  • Support functional testing, commissioning, safety validation of control systems, and fault diagnosis as required
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical safety requirements and company procedures

Mechanical / Civil Discipline

  • Inspect ride structures, foundations, support structures, platforms, access systems, and associated mechanical components.
  • Assess structural integrity, fatigue, wear, corrosion, deterioration, and overall condition
  • Support and perform Non-Destructive Testing and Examination (NDT/E) activities
  • Evaluate moving mechanisms, restraint systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems
  • Review drawings, calculations, and technical documentation where required
  • Identify defects and provide clear engineering recommendations for corrective action

General Responsibilities

  • Produce clear, concise, and technically accurate inspection reports
  • Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to clients and ride controllers
  • Ensure inspections are carried out in line with company procedures and safety standards/regulations
  • Maintain high levels of professional integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in inspection processes and safety practices

Training & Development

  • Structured 3-year training programme with clear progression milestones
  • Support towards NDT certification, where applicable
  • Support towards City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) if not already held
  • Hands-on experience with key industry standards:
  • BS EN 13814
  • BS 7671
  • Opportunity to develop into a multi-disciplinary inspection engineer
