We are seeking an enthusiastic, commercially minded, and highly motivated Gym Manager to lead our fitness operation and deliver an outstanding member experience.

The Role

As Gym Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our gym facilities, leading a small team of Personal Trainers while maintaining the highest standards of service, professionalism, and facility presentation.

You will play a key role in increasing Personal Training revenue, supporting member retention, and ensuring every member receives exceptional fitness guidance tailored to their individual goals.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining team management, member engagement, operational excellence, and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities - Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a small team of Personal Trainers.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure the team delivers outstanding customer service and professional fitness advice.
  • Foster a positive, energetic, and inclusive team culture.

Member Experience

  • Deliver an exceptional experience for all members and guests.
  • Build strong relationships with members to encourage engagement/retention.
  • Conduct comprehensive fitness assessments.
  • Design safe, effective, and personalised fitness programmes.
  • Provide ongoing programme reviews and support to help members achieve their goals.
  • Respond professionally to member feedback and resolve any concerns promptly.
  • Commercial Performance
  • Drive Personal Training revenue through proactive sales and member engagement.
  • Promote Personal Training packages, fitness programmes, and club services.
  • Support membership retention through excellent service and regular member interaction.
  • Identify opportunities to increase participation in fitness services and events.
  • Monitor KPIs and contribute towards departmental revenue targets.
  • Operations
  • Ensure the gym is always clean, safe, organised, and welcoming.
  • Carry out daily equipment inspections.
  • Ensure all gym equipment is maintained, serviced, and operating correctly.
  • Report faults promptly and coordinate repairs with approved contractors.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the fitness facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation and club policies.
  • Monitor stock levels for cleaning supplies and fitness equipment.

  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain accurate accident and incident records.
  • Ensure risk assessments are completed and regularly reviewed.
  • Hold responsibility for emergency procedures within the fitness facility.
  • Promote safe exercise practices across all member interactions.

About You

  • Previous experience managing a fitness facility or health club.
  • Proven leadership experience within the leisure or fitness industry.
  • Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification (essential).
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification (essential).
  • Current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a proven ability to drive PT sales.
  • Passion for health, fitness, and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a premium health club or luxury hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of gym management software and booking systems.
  • Additional fitness qualifications or specialist training.
