Restaurant Manager
Private members club Surrey £55,900 plus 10% discretionary bonus OTE £60,000
We're seeking an outstanding Restaurant Manager to lead operations at one of the UK's most prestigious private members' clubs, with sites in London and Surrey. Offering exceptional dining, luxury accommodation, and world-class leisure facilities, the Club prides itself on delivering an unrivalled member experience.
You will be required to lead, motivate and inspire a high-performing restaurant team, ensuring consistently exceptional service and memorable experiences for guests. The Restaurant Manager will take responsibility for the efficient day-to-day operation of the restaurant while maintaining the highest standards of service, team performance, compliance and commercial awareness.
Main Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistently high standards of service and an exceptional dining experience for all guests.
- Maintain and continually improve service standards in line with recognised luxury hospitality benchmarks.
- Proactively manage guest enquiries, feedback and complaints with professionalism, resolving issues promptly and escalating matters where appropriate.
- Prepare staff rotas and monitor attendance and working hours to ensure appropriate staffing levels according to business requirements.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management to build and maintain a motivated, capable and engaged team.
- Foster a positive and inclusive working environment where team members feel supported, empowered and encouraged to exceed expectations.
- Act as a role model within the department, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, enthusiasm and a guest-focused approach at all times.
- Support the preparation and management of departmental budgets, ensuring expenditure remains within agreed limits and monitoring actual and forecast performance regularly.
- Promote clear, consistent communication within the restaurant team and across other departments to ensure effective collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant licensing legislation and responsible service requirements.
- Ensure all Health & Safety, food safety, hygiene, allergen management and fire safety policies and procedures are followed and consistently applied.
- Complete all mandatory training and ensure that team members complete required training within agreed timescales.
- Maintain a strong focus on operational efficiency, service delivery and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with senior management and other departments to identify opportunities to improve the overall guest experience.
About you:
Essential
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Proven experience of delivering consistently high service standards within a hospitality, restaurant, club or luxury service environment.
- Excellent guest/customer service skills and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional experiences.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety requirements, including food safety, risk assessments, allergen management and staff training.
- Experience of budget planning, cost control and financial monitoring.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and effective under pressure.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
- Awareness of licensing legislation and responsible alcohol service.
- Knowledge and understanding of professional bar service.
- A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively as part of a wider management team.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to motivate, coach and develop team members.
Desirable
- WSET Level 2 or above, or equivalent wine and spirits qualification.
- Hospitality or Business Management degree, diploma or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience of cross-functional or multi-departmental leadership.
- Experience within a luxury hospitality, private members' club, fine-dining restaurant or similarly high-end environment.
