Role Purpose
To grow swim membership numbers by building TDSS’s presence in local schools and the wider community, devising and delivering a proactive sales plan, and converting interest and enquiries into booked, paying members. The role blends out-in-the-field outreach with structured, target-driven sales activity — working hand in hand with the marketing team and making best use of our enquiry and cancellation data.
Key Responsibilities
- Schools engagement & outreach: Build relationships with local primary schools, nurseries and community groups to promote TDSS swimming lessons and water safety. Arrange and attend school visits, assemblies, parents’ events and taster sessions to generate new member interest. Act as a confident, professional ambassador for the TDSS brand and its Olympic heritage.
- Sales Planning & Strategy: Devise, own and deliver a clear sales plan with monthly and quarterly targets for new memberships. Identify the most valuable opportunities by venue, catchment and season, and prioritise activity accordingly. Track performance against targets and adjust the plan to keep growth on track.
- Community Presence: Establish and maintain a visible TDSS presence at local events, leisure centres, fairs and family-focused venues. Build partnerships with local businesses and organisations to extend reach and referrals. Support TDSS water safety and drowning-prevention campaigns within the community.
- Working With Marketing: Work closely with the marketing team to align campaigns, offers and messaging with on-the-ground sales activity. Feed insight from schools, families and the community back into marketing to sharpen targeting. Ensure leads generated by marketing are followed up promptly and converted.
- Membership Sales & Family Conversion: Guide families through the options, lesson stages, the full-year course and member kit packs and convert enquiries into bookings. Deliver an excellent first impression and a smooth, supportive joining experience for every family. Hit and exceed agreed conversion and membership-growth targets.
- Cancellation List & Retention: Understand and actively work the cancellation list, identifying why members leave and acting to win them back. Contact lapsed and cancelling members with relevant offers and reassurance to reduce churn. Share retention insight with the wider team to improve the overall member experience.
- Call Drive & Outbound Activity: Run regular, structured call drives to enquiries, waiting lists, lapsed members and the cancellation list. Maintain accurate records of calls, outcomes and follow-ups in the booking/CRM system. Keep the sales pipeline clean, current and progressing.
- Reporting: Provide regular reporting on activity, pipeline, conversions and results against target.
Essential Person Specification:
- Proven sales, business development or membership-growth experience, ideally in a target-driven environment.
- Confident communicator, comfortable presenting to schools, parents and community groups.
