The Leisure Focus is recruiting for the position of General Manager at Windsor Leisure Centre. The successful candidate will take the lead role in developing Windsor Leisure Centre, as well as having an influential role in expanding the Leisure Focus business. Reporting into the Contract Manager, this role is an exciting opportunity for someone to influence the culture, direction and success of a flagship leisure facility. Leisure Focus has ambitious plans and is looking at innovative ways to engage the local community through the leisure offer. This role will also lead key Leisure Focus projects across the business, particularly with digital development plans. The post holder will inspire and lead the teams to ensure the highest standards of delivery at all times. The role will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust’s operations are fully compliant with relevant legislation as well as managing and developing the Centre’s community engagement work and wider commercial offer.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest possible standards of Health and Safety and customer care within the Centre
- Develop and promote an exciting, innovative leisure programme to increase usage and profitability
- Assume shift management responsibility for the centre to maximise total performance and maintain the highest standards of customer care
- Assist the Contract Manager in financial planning and budget setting to maximise profitability
- Create and execute strategic and operational plans within your centre of responsibility
- Provide clear direction and guidance to your team
- Maintain adherence to all legal, regulatory, ethical, and social standards
- Promote creativity and continuous improvement within the centre
- Drive, coordinate, and successfully deliver change initiatives
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders
- Oversee and control budgets and financial resources for all departments within the centre
- Oversee a portfolio of aligned and interrelated projects
- Oversee and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Effectively split time between responsibilities and business development project work
- Ensure the Leisure Centre maintains a high level of cleanliness
- Ensure all Health and Safety procedures and responsibilities are carried out at all times
- Provide appropriate staff training and development through regular 1-1, group meetings and PDR
- Identify and assess the feasibility of new activities which the Centre could offer
- Achieve maximum levels of participation in all courses and activities, monitor cost effectiveness and rectify areas of low performance
- Assist in the marketing and publicity of all activities and events, and develop distribution networks for promotional materials and merchandising of products
- Ensure sufficient staff are available for the safe, high-quality functioning of the Centre
- Help drive revenue and control expenditure so monthly targets are achieved
- Undertake any other duties as may be required as the General Manager to ensure that the business objectives of the contract are achieved

- Proven experience leading and managing teams effectively
- Skilled in analysing business issues and creating marketing plans
- Experienced in preparing and presenting project reports
- Able to influence and motivate staff at all levels
- Strong at meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- Ability to contribute to organisational strategy
- Knowledge of leisure centre operations, programming, and finances
- Understanding of KPIs and how to use them for improvement
- Up-to-date on leisure, fitness, and lifestyle trends
- Insight into customer expectations in health and fitness centres
- Track record in managing busy wet and dry leisure facilities
- Achieved measurable success in business growth and customer service
- Proven ability to drive change through leadership and team influence
Qualifications
- It will be desirable that the post holder has a recognised qualification in Leisure Management, Project Management or a related subject.
- The successful candidate will preferably have knowledge and skills in the Leisure or a related industry.
- A First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
- A recognised Pool Plant Operators qualification is desirable or must be obtained within a set period if not held.
- DBS disclosure is required as this is a regulated post.
