We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our collaborative English department in the role of Teacher of English (Maternity Cover) starting from September 2026. Successful candidates will be passionate about delivering an English curriculum which supports our vision of developing STEM professionals for the future global market.
As a Teacher of English, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational journey of our students. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons that ignite a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking. Your passion for English will inspire students to reach their full potential and develop essential communication skills for their future.
Our successful candidate will have high expectations of their students, strong subject knowledge, resilience, compassion and a keen desire to learn and grow. At The Leigh UTC, we believe our team ethos is the most important aspect of our success, making this a great opportunity for a teacher who wants the opportunity to be innovative and collaborative in a supportive environment.
We aim to develop learners who are not only confident, thoughtful readers, writers and speakers, but who are also interested, independent thinkers. The Leigh UTC is a STEM-based provision, but our learners enjoy and value their studies in English, and see the relevance of the subject to the rest of their studies and to their futures.
Note that whilst the position is offered on a maternity cover basis initially of up to one year, every effort will be made to offer a substantive position thereafter, either at Leigh UTC Dartford or within the wider family of academies across Leigh Academies Trust. The central Recruitment Team will keep in touch with you throughout your contract to discuss options available to you.
At Leigh UTC Dartford, we create opportunities for meaningful collaboration for staff, we provide a respectful working environment and we encourage innovation from every member of our team. Our Principal, Governors, teaching and support staff believe wholeheartedly in creating opportunities for lifelong success for our young people and believe that exam success is just one aspect in achieving this.
We deliver amazing experiences for students whilst not compromising on outcomes. Our teamwork allows us to be greater than the sum of our parts - join us to achieve more than you thought possible. Curriculum is king and we do things a little differently to other schools or colleges because we believe the most effective way to educate our students is to make our learning more hands-on.
With the International Baccalaureate Middle Years programme (MYP) at KS3, GCSEs at KS4, and A-levels, T-levels and the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP) at KS5, our ambitious curriculum offers caters for choice, leading the vast majority of students into STEM-related careers or courses.
