Leigh Timber Company Ltd has been supplying quality timber and building materials across Essex since 1915. As one of Essex's leading independent timber merchants, we are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Staff / Driver to join our growing team.
About the Role
This is a varied and hands‑on position combining yard duties with local deliveries to trade and retail customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
- Loading and unloading vehicles safely
- Delivering timber and building materials to customers
- Assisting trade and DIY customers in the yard
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks
- Assisting with stock control and goods‑in deliveries
- Supporting colleagues to ensure efficient day‑to‑day operations
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Must meet our commercial vehicle insurance requirements
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience working within a timber merchant, builders merchant, warehouse or similar environment
- Previous delivery driving experience
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
- Knowledge of timber and building materials would be beneficial
