Leigh Leopards are seeking a highly motivated, knowledgeable Strength & Conditioning coach to lead the Strength & Conditioning programme across our pathways rugby league players (reserves, academy & scholarship).

Location: Leigh Sports Village, Sale Way, Leigh, WN7 4JY

Contract Type: Part Time

Start Date: Immediate start

Hours: Monday – Thursday evening training ranging from 4:30pm – 9pm; Reserves fixtures – Saturday afternoons; Academy fixtures – Mainly Saturday afternoons with some Wednesday evenings.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate strength and conditioning programs for pathways rugby league players.
  • Develop physical qualities including strength, speed, power, mobility.
  • Integrate rugby league specific conditioning into training plans.
  • Monitor and support the athletic development of players via performance testing.
  • Educate players on movement quality, technique and safe lifting practices.
  • Provide individual feedback and progression for players.
  • Implement injury prevention strategies.
  • Lead on field warmups and activation.
  • Design and deliver rugby specific conditioning, speed and agility drills.
  • Work closely with medical/physio staff to support injured players return to play.
  • Track and analyse player testing data to inform training adjustments.
  • Work alongside rugby coaches to align physical development with technical/tactical training.
  • Attend meetings, match days and training sessions as required.
  • Uphold club values, professionalism and high coaching standards.
  • Promote recovery, nutrition and sleep habits.

Person Specification:

  • BSc Strength and Conditioning/Sport Science qualification or equivalent (MSc Hold or working towards UKSCA/CSCS accreditation).
  • Experience delivering Strength & Conditioning provision to youth athletes in a sporting environment (rugby league desirable).
  • Appropriate knowledge and ability to programme strength, speed and agility.
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • A desire to work with and develop elite youth rugby league players.
  • Ability to gain enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Reside close to training ground.
