Leigh Central Primary School, Windermere Road, Leigh, WN7 1UY

Salary: Grade 3, £17,344 per annum (£13.26 per hour), 30 hours per week, term time, working 38 weeks per year.

Temporary until August 2027, required for September 2026.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, caring, dedicated and effective level 2 Learning Support Assistant. The successful applicant will be based in our Reception classroom where they will support within the classroom base (including within continuous provision and the outdoor area) alongside providing a range of interventions for individuals and small groups where required.

They will be part of a team and as such will work alongside the class teacher in meeting the daily needs of the children they are supporting, which will include meeting the needs of a diverse range of additional needs. They will implement actions identified from outside agencies, for example, speech and language therapists, and feed back to the class teacher.

The successful candidate will also be required to support teaching staff on playground duty and will be required to provide lunch time supervision.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • be an effective communicator with all members of the school community
  • be hard working, caring and highly motivated
  • have experience of supporting children with additional needs including those with SEMH needs
  • have an understanding of trauma and trauma informed practices
  • have experience of working within an Early Years setting
  • have the ability to build good relationships with staff, children and parents
  • be a good team player who has a positive work ethos
