The Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) is part of the Service Management team (ITAM Team) and provides consistent & efficient management of Assets and Service Configurations within the service for Leidos customers. The primary objective of the SACM Lead is to use the Leidos SACM product set (People, Process, Technology etc.) to define and manage the configuration elements of services that are user-centric.

Responsible for the delivery of cost effective SACM Management that achieves customer’s requirements, meets mission needs and which can be fully integrated with the customer’s service.

Service Delivery

Reporting into the Service Delivery Manager (SDM) and ITAM Team lead to ensure the SACM service model is fit for operational purpose, support and management (maintainable and adaptable) and in line with the Customer and Leidos Configuration Management strategy.

  • All SACM aspects contribute to creating Configuration Management Plans and associated Configuration Management documentation e.g. Data Dictionary & Data Modelling Guide, along with the common sub-processes to support development of the SACM solution.
  • Collaborating with Service Architect and Engineers to develop the SACM architecture.
  • Support defining and delivering the discovery interface control mechanism as selected from the supported interfaces defined in the Interface Control Documents (ICD).
  • Collaborating with Programme or Project Management to lead on the SACM elements of delivery to enable the transition of the service into live production.
  • Identifying and managing SACM related risks, dependencies and issues appropriately aligned to the Service Delivery Plan.
  • Involvement in transitioning new SACM services from Projects to Business as Usual (BAU) through formal Service Transition processes and Service Readiness Review gates.
  • Liaising with Programme Management, Service Delivery and customers to assure delivery of quality SACM service products on time and to budget.
  • Ensuring teams involved with delivery of the SACM service have their processes and supporting artefacts.
  • Supporting transformation of the customer organisation to manage Assets and Service Configurations.
  • Working closely with the Service Operations team to ensure that implemented or changed services are capable of delivering to target service levels and performance indicators.

Service Operations

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager (SDM) and ITAM Lead to ensure the SACM service model is operational, support and management and in line with the Customer and Leidos SACM design.

  • Assistant ownership of the SACM Process, associated documentation and tooling e.g. CMDB to maintain and manage Service Configurations and Assets.
  • Manage SACM Audits and Verifications.
  • Liaising with Programme Management, Service Operations and customers to assure the quality of SACM service products, including co-ordinating with the Change Manager.
  • Ensuring teams using elements of the SACM service follow the processes and supporting artefacts.
  • Manage Assets and Service Configurations to maintain services.
  • Working closely with the Service Operations team to ensure that implemented or changed services deliver to target service levels and performance indicators.

Continuous Service Improvement (CSI)

Championing SACM and associated processes and procedures within the organisation, operating within the ITIL frameworks and compliant with ISO20000 where it is a defined deliverable for the customer.

  • Identifying areas of improvement.
  • Establishing CSI mechanisms for the life of the service.

You will have experience in managing SACM solutions within enterprise environments. Good understanding of the SACM IT technologies infrastructure components and business processes. Highly experienced and qualified in service management frameworks (ITIL) and their practical implementation with regard to SACM.

The SACM must have:

  • Knowledge of SACM concepts and techniques.
  • An operational understanding of supply chains.
  • Experience of SACM for major IT systems and services.
  • Experience of supporting SACM activities and delivering and maintaining Assets and Service Configurations for customers.
  • The ability to write coherent, concise, and readable technical documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of developing service based process and procedures in a commercial environment.
  • Experience of driving through service improvement activities.
  • Understanding of how technology, process, tools and people combine together to provide effective SACM solutions.
  • Experience in selecting and applying SACM principles, policies and techniques in client operational environments.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines; with a flexible and pragmatic approach.
  • Awareness and understanding of Change and Problem Management, maintaining Service Levels, ITSCM and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills including presenting.
  • Client Relationship Management - Build effective relationships with client team at all levels.
  • Understanding of SecDevOps function and agile development methodologies.
  • Experience and knowledge of financial management, cost centre control and project planning and delivery.

It is desirable for the SACM Lead to have:

  • Ability to grasp complex technical information quickly, assimilate and explain to non-technical audiences.
  • An understanding of SACM methodologies.
  • Awareness of Asset and Configuration Management Tooling technologies and how they can be used and configured to best serve our customers.
  • Awareness of Integrated Logistics Support methodology.
  • ITIL v3 / 4 certification appropriate to SACM.
