We’re looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join Leidos UK’s internal Network Engineering team, which can be based from either our Whiteley, Glasgow or Farnborough UK Offices, on a hybrid working basis with a requirement only to be in office around business needs. This is a great opportunity for a mid-senior level engineer with strong enterprise networking experience who enjoys a mix of operational support, technical improvement, and project delivery. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving a secure, business-critical network environment across both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments
  • Monitoring performance, investigating issues, and resolving network incidents
  • Implementing network changes in line with agreed processes and standards
  • Supporting the ongoing management of network security and vulnerability remediation across network devices
  • Configuring, managing and troubleshooting firewalls and authentication services, including Palo Alto
  • Contributing to the delivery and improvement of core network services such as LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, NAC and IPAM
  • Supporting UK-wide infrastructure projects and working closely with other technical teams
  • Helping to identify opportunities for service improvement, resilience and standardisation

What we’re looking for:

We’d like to hear from candidates who bring solid hands-on network engineering experience, ideally in a complex enterprise environment, including:

  • Strong experience in routing and switching, including Layer 2/3 troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge of core networking protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, VRF and IPSEC
  • Experience configuring and supporting Palo Alto firewalls
  • A strong understanding of Cisco enterprise LAN/WAN environments
  • Experience implementing and supporting both physical and virtual networking solutions
  • Confidence planning and delivering technical changes, with clear communication to stakeholders and wider teams
  • A proactive, methodical approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

Desirable:

It would be beneficial if you also have experience with any of the following:

  • SD-WAN
  • Network Access Control (NAC)
  • Wireless networking
  • Load balancing / Global Server Load Balancing
  • NSX, VXLAN or virtual firewall technologies
  • TACACS, MFA or PKI
  • Network automation
  • Working in secure or accredited environments
  • ITIL-based service delivery in critical infrastructure environments
