We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Scheduler to join our growing team. The Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining and analysing integrated project schedules to support successful programme delivery. Working closely with Project Managers, Delivery Managers, technical teams and key stakeholders, the Scheduler will ensure project plans are realistic, dependencies are understood, and progress is accurately tracked and reported. This role plays a key part in enabling effective decision-making through schedule analysis, forecasting, risk identification and performance reporting across projects and programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning & Scheduling
    • Develop, maintain and manage detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project (Desktop, Project Server and/or Project Online).
    • Support project planning activities, ensuring scope, deliverables, milestones and dependencies are accurately reflected in schedules.
    • Translate and align schedules between Microsoft Project and Agile delivery tools where required.
    • Establish and maintain integrated schedules across multiple workstreams and delivery teams.
  • Monitoring & Control
    • Conduct critical path, float, milestone and schedule health analysis.
    • Monitor progress against baselines and identify schedule variances.
    • Produce regular schedule performance reports, forecasts and status updates for stakeholders.
    • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to support performance tracking and forecasting.
  • Risk & Dependency Management
    • Identify, analyse and communicate schedule risks, issues and dependencies.
    • Recommend mitigation and recovery actions to minimise delivery impacts.
    • Ensure alignment between project schedules, resource plans, cost forecasts and programme objectives.
  • Governance & Continuous Improvement
    • Support programme-level planning, reporting and governance activities.
    • Maintain compliance with PMO standards, templates and scheduling governance requirements.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of scheduling processes, tools and reporting practices.
    • Provide scheduling expertise and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.

What We Need From You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in a Scheduler, Project Planner or Project Controls role within complex project environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project, including Project Server and/or Project Online.
  • Experience developing and maintaining integrated schedules across multiple projects, workstreams and dependencies.
  • Good understanding of project management methodologies and lifecycles (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, APM).
  • Experience supporting programme-level planning and reporting activities.
  • Experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple activities and work effectively in a dynamic delivery environment.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience within Defence, National Security, Technology, Engineering or other highly regulated environments.
  • Professional certification in project management or scheduling (e.g. PMP, PMI-SP, APM, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent).
  • Experience with Agile, SAFe®, hybrid and traditional Waterfall delivery approaches.
  • Familiarity with portfolio planning tools, reporting dashboards and data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience operating within a Project Controls, PMO or Programme Management environment.
