This opportunity supports the Metropolitan Police mission. In this role, you will support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of cloud-based platforms and delivery pipelines. You will work closely with engineering and platform teams to automate infrastructure, enhance CI/CD processes, and maintain reliable, scalable environments. This position is hands-on and requires strong technical capability across cloud platforms, automation, and containerised environments. This role is based in the UK and is performed remotely.

Your role and Primary Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and YAML configurations
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
  • Deploy, manage, and support Azure services across IaaS and PaaS environments
  • Automate routine operational and deployment tasks
  • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure, applications, and deployment pipelines
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot applications running in Kubernetes environments
  • Use kubectl commands to manage deployments, pods, services, and namespaces
  • Investigate issues using logs, exec, and describe commands
  • Perform rollouts, restarts, and scaling activities
  • Work with containerised applications (Docker or similar)
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve build, release, and deployment processes
  • Contribute to platform stability, performance, and security
  • Support technical documentation (runbooks, deployment guides)
  • Contribute to well-structured release notes

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role
  • Strong Microsoft Azure experience
  • CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins)
  • Terraform experience
  • YAML proficiency
  • Kubernetes experience
  • Strong use of kubectl commands
  • Containerisation experience (Docker or similar)
  • Scripting (PowerShell/Bash)
  • Experience working with Jira in Agile environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Confluence experience
  • Azure Monitor / Log Analytics experience
  • Cloud security and governance understanding
  • CI/CD best practices knowledge
  • FinOps awareness
  • Experience in enterprise or government environments
