The foundation of our Leidos culture is our Values, Beliefs and Expectations by which we select, recognise and reward employees. They create the environment that drives us toward our mission.

Inspired to make a difference, we are committed to solving the world’s toughest problems.

Passionate about customer success by being determined to understand and respond to our customers’ needs as if they were our own.

United as a team, we are bound together by our conviction that ethics and integrity is core to how we operate.

What about the role

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a multi-disciplined team providing operational support alongside project-based activity for a diverse set of customers utilising mainly AWS & Azure platforms.

You will be responsible for owning a variety of activities at the same time ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPI’s and SLA’s. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

If you are based in or near Glasgow or Aberdeen we see the benefit in collaborative working onsite with members of the team on a flexible basis a couple of days a week but if the right candidate is based further away fully remote working is also fine. From time to time travel might be required but this is at best infrequent. We provide on-call out of hours support to some customers and after some time you have the option to join the rota which attracts additional remuneration.

Who do we need?

We are looking for someone with a passion to deliver the best possible service to our customers. You will be highly organised, self-motivated and able to work autonomously and as part of a team to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables. You should be approachable and open to new ideas but similarly be determined to seek out and present improvements and efficiencies yourself.

What technical skills are we looking for?

The preferred candidate will demonstrate expertise in AWS and ideally Microsoft Azure Cloud Platforms, IaC Tools and security best practices.

Your passions and experience will help you become a technical specialist contributing to service improvement, technical documentation and operational and project delivery.

Ideally you will:

  1. Have extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including but not limited to:
  2. Compute & Containers: EC2, ECS, EKS
  3. Networking & Security: VPC, Network Firewall, WAF, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), IAM roles & policies, GuardDuty, Inspector
  4. Storage & Data Management: FSx, Backup, Transfer Family
  5. Database & Data Streaming: RDS, Kinesis
  6. Monitoring & Observability: CloudWatch, QuickSight
  7. IaC & DevOps: CloudFormation, CodePipeline, CodeCommit
  8. DNS & Routing: Route 53
  9. Have strong knowledge of networking technologies, including firewalls, load balancing, and DNS management
  10. Be experienced in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for automating AWS infrastructure deployments
  11. Have experience working with containers and Kubernetes
  12. Have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, ensuring complex cloud issues are resolved efficiently
  13. Have experience with ITIL processes, particularly around change management and incident resolution
  14. Have excellent documentation skills, creating and maintaining technical and procedural documentation
