Leidos Europe is looking for a Finance Analyst to join their Commercial, Legal and Finance (CLF) team. Leidos is honoured to support the UK MOD’s Logistic Commodities & Services Transformation (LCST) programme, a critical effort to enhance and improve the UK’s defence supply chain.

The role will be functionally responsible for supporting the day to day financial elements of operations, management and cost control. Key to this is supporting the Senior Finance Analyst in the monthly reporting processes, consolidation and reporting of LCST programme costs and performance vs Budget and Forecast, with responsibility for Leidos Europe Staff Costs. This role will encompass a considerable degree of liaising with Control Account Managers as Budget owners to ensure financial spend reflects operational activity and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate timecharging by reviewing weekly timesheet reports to identify potential exceptions and highlight to CAMs
  • Updating employee rates file with latest salaries to assist with accurate forecasting
  • Monitoring of the new starters list & open vacancies (job requisitions)
  • Issuing Employee Work Authorisations to new starters, new projects.
  • Updating NHE files
  • Maintaining Organisational Charts for reporting structures and identifying funding
  • Update Monthly forecasts in conjunction with budget holder review discussions
  • Prepare the Annual Operating budget in support with Budget holders, updating ROADB’s with supporting financial data, and completing variance walks commentary
  • Conducting financial review meetings with budget holders – presenting data via Power BI dashboard and supporting manager financial decisions
  • Creating new charge codes for new funding lines
  • Evaluating actual costs and performance vs budgets to identify trends, drivers of variances to inform future budget and forecast impacts.
  • Provide detailed analysis and commentary on cost centre results.
  • Perform ad-hoc business analysis, and financial modelling. Present recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions, and planned future initiatives.
  • Demonstrate appropriate understanding / working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Excellent logical and problem solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and understand the business needs
  • Provide insights to senior management around financial modelling, forecasts and profitability
  • Support implementation of financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and processes for all finance functions
  • Coordination of financial elements of Service and Cost Performance measures being implemented under the subsidiary including programme and site level financials and reporting by Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) under the LCST contract and any subsequent Leidos Europe contracts
  • Provide financial support to both Functional and Logistics organisations, and contribute to achieving the organisation’s goals and objectives
  • Assist with establishing, maintaining and reporting Estimates at Completion (EACs) in compliance with Leidos policies and procedures, particularly in relation to ‘options’ subject to limits of liability

Required Skills:

  • Part-Qualified desirable but not essential (ACCA, CA, CIMA or ICAS) with some finance experience
  • Power BI experience in creating reports and dashboards
  • Previous experience in cost reporting, variance analysis and forecasting
  • Excellent logical, analytical and conceptual skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or SQL, VBA, Microsoft Access, and e.g. Oracle Financials, Cognos
  • Proven expertise managing, evaluating, analysing data quickly and creating meaningful business reporting; with excellent distillation and synthesis of information
  • Very comfortable with ambiguity and excels at bringing clarity and structure
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
