The Application Engineer manages and maintains a suite of applications supporting the Geospatial capability across the PITSM Programme. Working closely with Core Services and change teams to ensure the application baseline is up‑to‑date, operational users have current apps, and obsolescence/security issues are proactively managed.

Key Activities

  • Manage and maintain the application baseline across multiple domains.
  • Provide support to Core Services and Agile Change Teams to maintain the baseline and ensure users have up‑to‑date applications.
  • Liaise with teams, including 2nd and 3rd line engineers, sub‑contractor SMEs and customer resolver groups, for seamless information flow.
  • Under direction of Technical Lead, maintain and deliver application upgrades for a fixed and deployed environment.
  • Provide technical support to clients and relay information to development teams for maintenance and updates.
  • Integrate with ITAM and obsolescence processes to obtain vendor information on software lifecycles and maintenance agreements.
  • Optimize applications by integrating new technologies and performing upgrades.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and debugging procedures, improve code, and redesign tasks.
  • Generate ideas for software innovation from market trends.
  • Document and develop processes, procedures and application version histories.
  • Enhance Leidos’s relationship with MOD, military and other contractors.
  • Support investigation and resolution of application deployment issues.
  • Review and raise awareness of hardware/software changes to ensure impacts are understood and managed to deployment.
  • Support deployment of software application, upgrade or patch that maintains accreditation by following the MODCERT process.
