Overview

The role requires working on secure Government sites up to 5 days per week.

You will support operational services and assist with change projects, working on customer sites in West London with occasional travel to Huntingdon.

You will keep abreast of the technology landscape, identifying new and relevant technologies to solve problems and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Network Engineering skills and produce solution designs as part of the senior delivery team.
  • Work with partner delivery teams to design and implement modern, scalable networks using a range of new and emerging technologies, including automation.
  • Lead on all Network management and acceptance aspects, including setting standards and providing deep technical expertise to Leidos programme teams.
  • Utilise the concepts and principles of verification and validation to produce relevant Network designs across multiple subject areas.
  • Collaborate with customers on all aspects of Network management, ensuring assurance and integration of Network services to meet the needs of multiple lines of business.
  • Recognise and exploit business opportunities by leveraging engineering and design best practice.
  • Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context.
  • Contribute to the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation (HLDs, LLDs, Work Instructions) and support project work or operational service.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of data centre and campus networking technologies: Cisco (routing, switching, firewalls), Fortinet (Fortigate and Forti Switch), Palo Alto (Next‑Gen firewalls), Juniper SRX, F5 (global and local load balancing) and Encryption.
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols (static and dynamic) in data centre, campus and wide‑area networks.
  • Experience and knowledge of L2/3 networking and routing.
  • Strong experience operating high‑availability data centre networks supporting critical workloads on Windows, Linux and SAN, including technical refresh of large numbers of devices.
  • Strong experience with monitoring and management tooling including Solar Winds.
  • Good general knowledge of Windows Server environments (OS build, AD, DNS, DHCP and GPO) and Linux (RHEL) data centre server infrastructures.
  • Excellent analysis and problem‑solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents and ensuring resolution to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working within a Defence environment.
  • Hybrid working policy SC/DV required; ability to obtain a high level of security clearance to work on programme.
