A Deputy IT Technical Operations Lead acts as a senior, hands‑on deputy to the Head of Technical Operations Lead, combining technical expertise with team leadership to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Technical Operations Lead, overseeing daily IT operations, monitoring and maintaining infrastructure (networks, servers, cloud) to ensure high availability.
- Line manage or support the development of IT staff, conducting 1‑2‑1s, performance reviews, and identifying training needs to foster a high‑performance culture.
- Serve as a technical point of escalation for high‑priority incidents, performing root cause analysis (RCA) and driving resolution.
- Oversee technical projects, system updates, and security implementations (patching, backups, firewall management).
- Act as Acting Technical Ops Lead when delegated, attending meetings, reviewing HLDs/LLDs for Agile Change and Core Services.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5–6+ years in IT support, infrastructure/network engineering, or technical operations with proven team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure (VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, DNS), Microsoft products, server administration, storage/hardware and monitoring tools.
- Strong communication skills, ability to lead, motivate, and mentor team members.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., Jira Service Desk, ServiceNow) and ITIL methodologies.
- Certifications: ITIL Foundation, Microsoft certifications, or relevant networking certifications (e.g., Cisco) are often desired.
