We are seeking an experienced hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team. As part of a high-performing Agile team, you will design, implement, and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure using a tailored SAFe Agile SecDevOps Scrum process. You'll apply DevOps best practices and cloud-native design principles, leveraging AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to drive automation and continuous delivery across environments. This role also includes hands-on work with automated testing, deployments, and infrastructure monitoring, as well as participation in Agile ceremonies, risk mitigation activities, and collaborative solution design. Cross-functional flexibility across systems engineering, software development, testing, and security is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Design, implement, and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS services.
- Develop and maintain IaC pipelines with Terraform and Ansible.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or Bamboo.
- Write and maintain scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to automate operational tasks.
- Containerise applications with Docker and orchestrate using Kubernetes/EC2 ECS/EKS.
- Automate testing, deployments, and infrastructure monitoring using CloudWatch, Prometheus, and similar tools.
- Manage source code with Git, including pull requests, branching strategies, and version control workflows.
- Implement secrets management and access control using Vault, IAM policies, and related tools.
- Ensure compliance with AWS security best practices: encryption, patching, monitoring, least privilege access, and compliance requirements.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for data protection and business continuity.
- Configure and maintain load balancing and traffic management (NGINX, AWS ELB, ALB).
- Collaborate in Agile teams (sprint planning, retrospectives, daily stand-ups).
- Design scalable, resilient, cost-effective cloud-native solutions meeting availability and performance objectives.
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and mitigation strategy implementation.
- Integrate event-driven architecture using SNS, Lambda, and external notification systems.
- Use Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) for Agile delivery, documentation, and CI/CD pipeline management.
- Work with Active Directory, ADFS, group policy management, and SSO integration as needed.
- Hold relevant certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or equivalent; ITIL Foundation or experience with ITIL environments.
Clearance Requirements
- UK Citizen, must be based in the UK for the duration.
- Start BPSS clearance.
- Role SC clearance (or ability to obtain UK SC Clearance).
