Volunteer – Information Leader
Leicestershire Shared Reading (LSR) organises shared reading groups to engage older and isolated individuals with enriching literature in a meaningful way. These groups foster social connections, improve mental wellbeing, and offer vital support to participants. LSR works closely with Leicestershire County Council\’s library services and The Reader to build a strong network of trained volunteers who lead the reading sessions. This collaborative approach ensures ongoing support and development for volunteers, enabling them to create a welcoming and impactful shared reading environment.
Role Description
This is a hybrid‑voluntary position at Leicestershire Shared Reading. The Volunteer – Information Leader will manage and coordinate information resources, ensuring accurate and secure handling of data in alignment with organisational goals. Responsibilities include overseeing information management processes, safeguarding data security, and supporting the effective use of information technology systems in the delivery of shared reading services.
Specific tasks include:
- Managing the shared document storage (currently Dropbox)
- Managing the distribution of monthly group reports to group leaders (currently using spreadsheets and mail‑merged documents)
- Managing the website File Share facility
- Collating information for LSR’s Annual Report
- Exploring opportunities to simplify and streamline our systems for information collection, storage and sharing.
