Community Engagement Assistant Closing date: Monday 6 January 2025 Salary: £23,342.33 Pro rata per annum Contract type: Fixed term / Working hours: Part time Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust is looking for a passionate and organised Community Engagement Assistant to support our innovative community-led approach to nature conservation. This 9-month part-time role is based in Leicester, with flexible hours and opportunities to work closely with diverse communities. You will play a vital role in helping local people and groups build knowledge and skills, empowering them to take action for wildlife and create pride in their neighbourhoods through nature-based initiatives. Responsibilities Building positive relationships between the Trust and community organisations. Facilitating local events and supporting initiatives that enable community members to lead their own projects. Organising workshops, pop-up events, and consultations. Fostering self-supporting networks of community champions for nature. Qualifications Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire individuals from diverse backgrounds. A proven track record in organising and delivering community events or projects. Experience in building collaborative relationships with community groups. Excellent organisational abilities and a proactive, adaptable approach to managing a varied workload. Familiarity with Leicester\'s communities and an understanding of barriers to engagement will be an advantage. A core aspect of this role involves embracing a Community Organising approach, which empowers people to identify shared goals, develop leadership skills, and foster connections within their community. It\'s about facilitating—not leading—and supporting individuals to create change for themselves.
